Project Description
Astra was engaged by GPC Asia Pacific to carry out the fit out of their new Brisbane Distribution Centre and Ashdown-Ingram head office and Repco Queensland offices. The office works included the construction of new corporate offices, utilities, an open plan workspace to cater for more than 130 employees, reception area, large comms room and industry specialty rooms. We also created a new invigorating and exciting internal and external staff break out space, including an inviting outdoor breakout area, creating privacy for the staff with laser cut compact laminate feature panels, complimented by native landscaping. Works to the 23,000 sqm distribution centre included the installation of new racking throughout with a large mezzanine level and a conveyor system across both levels of the mezzanine.
Astra also undertook co-ordination of the landlord works provided by BAC prior to the main fitout works.
With a project of this nature and size, a major upgrade of the fire system was required throughout the warehouse. The installation of new sprinklers, fire hydrants and hose reels were installed throughout the racking, mezzanine and conveyor system, with the racking in the Intrinsically Safe and Hazardous / Dangerous goods area having sheet metal fire barriers installed between each horizontal rack. A new innovative LED high bay lighting system was installed with individual sensors reducing the power consumption by more than a third from the normal conventional High Bay Lighting that was originally installed.
